Everton fans playing darts in The Transfer Tavern are discussing a statement about their clubs young stars made by their manager.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Roberto Martinez has warned potential suitors for their young stars that they will not welcome any bids, and is confident they will all remain at the club beyond the January window.
This news will be a bitter blow for Chelsea who were believed to be readying a bid in January for John Stones.
Chelsea had failed attempts throughout the summer to bring the England international to Stamford Bridge, and it will be interesting to see if they are put off making a January bid for the player, in the wake of Martinez’s comments. Speaking about his young players Martinez said:
“None of our best players will be leaving in January, I’m not worried at all. We are not in a position where we have to make financial decisions or of worrying about balancing the books, and our only concern is about continuity, and developing the best we can.”
“Our focus is on being as strong as we can together and keeping the continuity.”
The Everton fans in The Transfer Tavern are delighted with Martinez’s comments, and are confident the club can push on for a place in Europe if they keep the squad together.
