Everton, Celtic and Newcastle United are looking into the possibility of signing free agent Thierno Bah. The Swiss midfielder is without a club having been released by Swiss Super League side Neuchatel Xamax.
His agent, Gino Culbertson, has said: “I have been asked by a contact to circulate the name of Thierno to clubs in the UK as he would like to have the chance to play in Britain. He is willing to come over and train with a club so that he can show that he has a lot to offer to any interested side.”
Bah has himself admitted he would like to play in Britain: “’I’ve always dreamed of playing in the English league or Scottish league because I think British football is one of the best football in the world. I’d be very happy to wear the jersey of a team of one of the two leagues.”
Bah is a twenty seven year old Swiss defensive midfielder of Guinean descent. He played twenty games for the Swiss under twenty one side but is yet to make an appearance for the full national team. Since 1999 he has played for Servette FC, FC Meyrin and his most recent club Neuchatel Xamax. He totalled one hundred and fifty one games for the three clubs in eleven years, scoring just five goals.
His record, and the fact I’ve never heard of him make me think he might be a waste of time for clubs like Everton, Celtic or Newcastle. He might be worth a punt for a Championship club or a Scottish side excluding Celtic and Rangers though.
