The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting business to pick up this week…
After a pretty mixed start to the season, it’s clear that the Toffees need to secure a few major signings this month. Ronald Koeman’s side started the season well, but a downturn in form towards the end of the calendar year has really cost the Toffees – and a swift turnaround is needed.
The goal, according to the Everton fans in the Tavern, is Europa League football for next season, and our landlord thinks that he needs to get a few players in quickly if he really wants to achieve that.
Koeman is, seemingly, well aware of the necessity of new signings – and it would appear as though the Dutchman is closing in on his first signing of the summer…
As per the BBC, Everton have now agreed a deal with Man Utd for 27-year-old midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin – with the French midfielder struggling for game time at Man Utd.
Arguably one of the most impressive midfielders in the Premier League before his move to Man Utd, Schneiderlin’s career has stagnated under Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal – with both managers opting to utilise the midfielder as a bit-part player.
The Everton fans in the Tavern are hoping that he can regain his form, though, with Ronald Koeman the manager that brought the best out of him during his spell at Southampton. They think that a duo of Schneiderlin and Gueye could be unstoppable.
Our landlord thinks that this deal could be absolutely vital…
