Everton will want to enjoy a better start to the next campaign after flirting with the possibility of relegation last season.
The Toffees have spent big once again this summer having acquired Richarlison from fellow Premier League side Watford, with plenty more business seemingly in the pipeline. Indeed, Marco Silva appears to be making moves to sign his next transfer target, as according to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are closing in on the signing of Barcelona defender Lucas Digne.
Interestingly, the Merseyside club still have work to do to complete a move for Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne, but they are confident a deal will be done.
Everton director of football Marcel Brands travelled to Barcelona this week to continue the club’s pursuit of the Frenchman, so he will be hoping to complete a deal in the near future.
Importantly it’s understood that Everton have made progress in their pursuit of Digne, so things are looking up for Marco Silva’s side.
The Toffees mean business this summer but they may be splashing the cash for no reward once again, as they’re closing in on another signing.
Indeed, a deal for the Frenchman is in the pipeline, with Everton confident that a deal can be completed. But, it remains to be seen as to whether this piece of business will work out for them in the new campaign after witnessing the disasters of last season.
