Everton fans have ordered a round in the Football Transfer Tavern to celebrate the news coming out of the Daily Mail today.
The publication are claiming that a permanent deal for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku could be struck in the next 48 hours.
Roberto Martinez has made the Belgian his priority signing of the summer and a deal looks set to finally be agreed with the Blues.
Lukaku spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and became an instant fans favourite, scoring 14 Premier League goals over the course of the season.
Lukaku has been linked with a number of clubs over the summer, with Tottenham the early favourites for his signature.
It then appeared Atletico Madrid were keen to bring him to Spain but Diego Simeone decided to pursue other targets, whilst German club Wolfsburg have also been linked.
But now it appears Martinez is set to pull off a major coup by signing the 21-year-old on a permanent basis, having helped the forward develop further over the 2013/14 campaign.
Everton fans. Just how big a boost would it be to sign Lukaku on a permanent basis? Can you see your club breaking into the top four next season? Let us know your thoughts below.
