Everton: Toffees leading race to sign ‘outstanding’ £18million-rated Max Aarons - Everton

According to recent reports, Everton are now leading the race for the January signing of Norwich City right-back, Max Aarons.

The report by TEAMtalk claims that the Toffees have overtaken Manchester United in the battle to sign the defender, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side now said to be ‘ready to make contact’ with the Championship side regarding a January move.

So far this season, the £18million-rated 21-year-old has impressed over his 23 league appearances for Daniel Farke’s side, making an average of 0.7 tackles, one interception, 1.7 clearances and 0.4 blocks per game, culminating in an average WhoScored match rating of 6.83.

The report continues by stating that Norwich would consider a deal for the right-back, whom the Canaries manager has called ‘outstanding‘, however, that they would like to keep the England U21 international until the end of the season in order to help with their promotion push.

Transfer Tavern Take

Should Everton indeed go on to sign Aarons in January, it will be the second successive transfer window in which Ancelotti has bought a defender from the Championship side, after Ben Godfrey’s arrival on transfer deadline day last October.

And, considering how well that deal has worked out thus far, there are certainly signs that, even though Norwich are currently a second-tier side, they do possess some impressive talents, of which Aarons appears one of the brightest.
