According to recent reports, Everton winger, Bernard, is still attracting interest from AS Roma ahead of a potential January move.
The report by Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claims that Bernard, who joined Everton from Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer back in 2018, is a target for Paulo Fonseca’s side, should they fail to bring Stephan El Shaarawy back to Italy.
The report does not state whether Roma have been in discussions with Everton regarding the potential sale of Bernard, however, considering the fact that the winger has started just one Premier League game under Carlo Ancelotti so far this season, it is not difficult to imagine the Italian being open to the idea of selling the £13.5 million-rated winger, who former Everton star Leon Osman once described as a ‘little cracker‘.
Do you think Everton should look to sell Bernard in January?
Transfer Tavern Take
Considering the fact that Bernard’s reported £120k per week wages make him Everton’s joint-highest earner alongside Yerry Mina, it would certainly not be difficult to imagine Ancelotti being keen to get the Brazilian off his books this January, as, even if the club do not receive a decent fee for the winger, the Italian boss would then have more free reign to offer a higher salary to any potential incoming signings that thee club may wish to make.
