Everton have had a £30m bid rejected by Arsenal for Alex Iwobi, as reported by BBC Sport.
The Toffees will likely go back in with another offer for the Nigeria international, though it is believed they will have to exceed £40m to sign the attacker.
It is unknown whether the transfer request handed in by Wilfried Zaha, as reported by Sky Sports, will impact this move.
Iwobi started 22 Premier League games for Arsenal last season, coming off the bench 13 times, scoring three goals and assisting six, as per WhoScored.
In addition, the man who has been capped by Nigeria 36 times made 1.1 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game.
Zaha started 34 league games for Crystal Palace last season, scoring 10 goals and making five assists, while also completing 1.6 key passes and 3.4 dribbles per game.
This highlights how much of a better option Zaha is than Iwobi, as he would be much more threatening and has also shown a better end product than the 23-year-old.
It will be a lot more costly to get Zaha in, but considering he has handed in a transfer request, it is definitely worth chasing him over trying to recruit Iwobi.
The Arsenal man has not shown that he can be a key man for a club and carried a lesser threat than Zaha did last season.
There is, of course, not long left in the transfer window, so whatever Everton opt to do they will need to do it quickly.
