Inconsistencies have blighted Everton this season, although they do appear to have found the winning formula as the Premier League campaign begins to conclude, which will have been furthermore frustrating for Marco Silva.
Changes to personnel will need to be made in the summer, with a number of positions in the squad needing to be strengthened further. However, the upcoming transfer window will also provide the club with an opportunity to offload some of their players and reduce the size of their team.
And, it appears they are rather confident of offloading at least one player for a significant transfer fee.
What’s the News?
According to Football Insider, Marcel Brands is confident that Everton can receive a figure of £12million for Nikola Vlasic.
The attacking midfielder is not believed to be apart of Silva’s future plans, despite being impressive on loan at CSKA Moscow this season, and the director of football is working hard to secure a permanent move away from Goodison Park for him.
It is understood that the Premier League side do not believe the Russia outfit will be able to match their valuation, although know of interest elsewhere that could see them coup the price tag they have for the Croatia international.
As mentioned, Vlasic has put in a number of impressive performances for CSKA Moscow during his loan spell this season and it would not have been surprising to see him get a chance at Everton next year.
However, that does not appear to be the case as the Toffees are prepared to cash in on the Croatian talent. And, considering the number of options Silva has at his disposal, maybe it is not that surprising that he could be offloaded.
Everton have plenty of attacking options and playmakers on the club’s books at the moment, with the likes of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Ademola Lookman, Theo Walcott and Bernard all vying for places in the first-team.
But, is letting the 21-year-old go for £12m the right thing for Everton to do? If his current campaign is anything to go by, then you would have to say that it could become a costly mistake.
Vlasic may have struggled during his first season at Goodison Park, however, he has shown what he can produce at the highest level with the Russians against some quality teams, which should have at least made Silva and Brands think hard about his future.
