Everton confirm signing of Lucas Digne

Everton have started to make inroads with their transfer business this summer as they look to rebuild their squad for the upcoming campaign.

The Toffees are keen to improve their squad as they struggled to make the desired impact following a heavy summer of spending and Marco Silva looks to have started to make the additions required.

The Portuguese manager has had a slow start to life at Goodison Park when it comes to his recruitment drive, however, the former Watford boss decided to raid his previous employers for his first signing.

Richarlison joined Everton for a fee of around £50million and it looks like that could have been the deal to start things going, as the new manager has brought in another addition in quick succession.

According to an announcement on the club’s official website, the Toffees have completed the signing of Lucas Digne, who joins from Barcelona on a five-year deal.

The Verdict:

The 25-year-old has a wealth of experience that could be beneficial to the Goodison Park outfit this summer as they look to compete for European football.

Digne has already won titles in Spain and France, having won championship medals with both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain and has been capped 21 times by France.

The left-back, who is expected to take over from Leighton Baines this summer, is thought to be looking forward to a new challenge and will be relishing the prospect of first-team football once again.
