Marco Silva’s Everton could certainly do with some improvement in the summer, couldn’t they? The club could do with addressing a number of areas in the field that would allow them to forget all about the inconsistencies that they have had to deal with this season.
Obviously, a striker should be at the top of the list, however, it appears the Toffees have a target on their radar that would go a long way in helping them to significantly improve.
What’s the News?
According to a report by CalcioNapoli24, Everton are thought to have been observing Valentino Lazaro as he continues to impress with Hertha Berlin.
Journalist Raffaele Auriemma told the website: “Lazaro’s agent is talking to Napoli. The blue club sees in Lazaro an alternative exterior to Callejon, not a low outside, a role he plays at the Hertha Berlin. With the Austrian national team, for example, he plays high in 4-2-3-1. The price is very high: the Hertha Berlin asks for €30million but with €25m you can take it away. But there are the Premier League clubs that follow him, in particular Everton and Leicester, who observe him with continuity in Hertha home games.”
Everton certainly have some issues when it comes down to the right, as the likes of Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny failing to really impress under Silva.
The 23-year-old is extremely versatile as he can play anywhere on the right-hand side and is also capable of providing some attacking threat, as well as providing the club with a rather solid option at the back.
His ability to keep the ball close to him, the flair and dazzling dribbling ability he possesses make him a really exciting player and one that has emerged as a rising star in the Bundesliga this season for Hertha Berlin.
Lazaro may not be the quickest player on the pitch, however, he has shown that he has the technical ability to get past his defender and create opportunities, whether that be for his team-mates or for himself.
Everton would clearly benefit from a player of the Austrian international’s quality in their side and should look to bring him to Goodison Park in the summer. A figure of between €25m and €30m (£21.3m and £25.6m) would not necessarily be considered a large fee for a player of his talent either.
Everton fans, should the club look to bring Lazaro to Goodison Park in the summer? Or would you look elsewhere? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
