Everton could miss out on Bernard after late Chelsea offer

Everton could miss out on landing one of their most ambitious targets this summer, as a late charge has been made by a Premier League rival.

According to Sky Sports on their Transfer Centre, Chelsea have decided to make a last-minute attempt to try and sign Bernard right from under The Toffees noses.

The Brazil international is expected to have a medical with the Merseyside outfit in the next 48 hours as Marco Silva looks to have landed a real coup this summer.

However, it is understood the Blues have decided to make the 25-year-old an offer at an attempt to convince him to head to London instead.

Bernard has been on the radar of a number of clubs this summer following his decision to leave Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer, with offers from all over Europe.

The winger was in fine form for the Ukrainian outfit last season, so it is no surprise that he would be in-demand, however, it does appear that Everton could be the club to land him.

The Verdict:

With a club of Chelsea’s stature making a late offer, Everton may start to sweat on whether they can bring the Brazilian to Goodison Park.

However, as it is understood that he is due to take a medical with the Toffees in the near future, there will be a sense that he will be confirmed one of their players in due course.

He would become the third signing of the summer for Silva’s side, with Lucas Digne and Richarlison already acquired as the new manager looks to turn Everton into a competitive force.
