The Everton fans are having a friendly game of darts in The Transfer Tavern this evening and discussing comments made by one of their international defenders.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Leighton Baines feels their is no chemistry in the current Everton squad and that is a reason for their struggles this season.
Baines comments come after the club suffered a third straight league defeat, and although the club has made the semi-final stage of the FA Cup, the pressure is building on manager Roberto Martinez and Baines comments will do the Spaniard no favours.
Speaking about the struggles this season, Baines said “You are only really secure as individuals when you are winning games but even then we will make changes from time to time with what is required tactically.
“I don’t think there is anyone expecting to have their name pencilled in for that game (FA Cup semi-final).
“But the motivation should be getting your name there.
“I just don’t feel as though the chemistry is quite there with the team on the pitch at the moment, and it hasn’t been for a while.
“We are maybe leaning too heavily on individuals to come up with something.
“We’re in games, we were in the game on Sunday and had a couple of chances, but we’re not performing as a team to the level we know we can or we should be.
“Results have an impact on that because chemistry and confidence go hand in hand, if you start winning games.
“Look at the teams who are having success this year and you’d say they have chemistry.
The Everton fans in The Tavern agree with Baines comments, and many feel that come the end of the season Martinez should be relieved of his duties as the club’s manager.
Meanwhile, our landlord feels that the Spaniard is undoubtedly the man for the job at Goodison Park, and feels he is one the best managers in the Premier League!
