Despite appearing for the Toffees in the last two games in place of the suspended Seamus Coleman, including a decent performance against West Ham, Djibril Sidibe is reportedly ‘unhappy’ with his lack of playing time
Should Sidibe replace Coleman long-term?
The defender signed on a season-long loan from Monaco in the summer, providing much-needed defensive cover in a back four which has very little in the way of depth. As per WhoScored
According to reports from Calciomercato via Sport Witness, Sidibe is dissatisfied having only played 120 minutes of the Premier League campaign so far – with Italian giants AC Milan ready to pounce on the situation.
Milan are currently in need of full-back cover, and if reports are to be believed, Sidibe fits the bill – with the 27-year-old proving he can cut it at the highest level following a decent three years at AS Monaco.
The Frenchman was also part of Monaco’s 2016/2017 title-winning side, a team that also fought it’s way to the Champions League semi-finals that same season.
With a wealth of top-level experience under his belt, Italian media outlets have been claiming that the defender would be a perfect acquisition for Milan who are looking to break back into the Champions League – a competition they have won seven times in their illustrious history.
Still, as it stands, Everton aren’t exactly blessed with defensive options and it’s hard to imagine Marco Silva allowing a man averaging more tackles per game (2.5) than Seamus Coleman to leave easily, given their struggles in the backline this season.
Indeed, the Toffees have already conceded 13 times this season and perhaps some decent enough showings in light of Coleman’s absence – with some fans online even calling for him to replace the Goodison Park stalwart – could offer him the chance to make his mark on Merseyside.
