Despite a slow start to the summer transfer window, Everton ended up being one of the most active teams in the market having brought in Richarlison, Lucas Digne, Bernard, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes and Kurt Zouma.

However, despite making all of the above additions, there were rumours suggesting that manager Marco Silva had already been looking at how he could strengthen his squad further next January.

The Breakdown

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are battling it out with fellow Premier League side Wolves for the signature of free agent Miguel Veloso.

But Silva has since confirmed in his pre-match press conference (via Liverpool Echo) that Everton are not interested in either £2.25m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Veloso or Claudio Marchisio, who is also a free agent.

And, looking at Everton's squad, Silva has made the right call. There is no need for another central midfielder to be brought in.

As well as deadline-day signing Gomes, the Portuguese boss also has the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin to call upon.

Schneiderlin has mostly struggled at Everton since arriving at Goodison Park from Manchester United back in January 2017.

However -- and while it is still early -- the Frenchman looks vastly better under Silva in the two games he has played in this season.

With that in mind, there is no room for Veloso in Silva's squad, especially once Gomes returns to full fitness.
