This source told you yesterday that Juventus are interested in signing Atletico Madrid captain Maxi Rodriguez who will be available for sale due to Atletico’s poor season and with his contract expiring in the summer. But the Daily Mirror now reports that Juventus have competition for the attacking midfielder in the form of Everton who see the 28-year-old as a great signing to compensate for the missing Mikel Arteta and to provide an attacking spark.
Maxi has already proven himself capable of scoring great goals – his strike in World Cup 2006 against Mexico was simply remarkable – and is very creative, much like Arteta who Everton have missed terribly this season. Whilst they do have Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini offering a threat from midfield Everton have not had an extremely creative player available to them in Arteta’s absence and Maxi would definitely prove that.
A fee for the Argentina midfielder could be as low as £7 million and it’s a cut price offer that David Moyes may well consider to help his team escape from the lower half of the table. Beating the might of Juventus to the midfielder will prove very difficult though but it’s a move that would be worthwhile for Moyes should he prove able to pull it off.
[Is there any substance to this and should this rumour Fly or Die?]
