Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern will want to forget about this season quickly and will be looking for the club to make a number of changes during the summer transfer window.
The Toffees had pre-season ambitions of challenging for European football having spent nearly £200 million on players, however, in reality, they were fighting to stay in the Premier League for much of the season.
The locals in the bar were disappointed with what they saw and have called for a number of players and backroom staff to leave, however, Sam Allardyce remains defiant about his position and does not believe one of his stars will leave Goodison Park just yet.
According to reports from the Washington Post, Wayne Rooney could be set to end his second spell with his boyhood club after just one season, however, his manager has told the Liverpool Echo he feels it would take a “massive offer” for the attacker to quit the Merseyside outfit.
“There are rumours about Wayne going elsewhere abroad – in China and America – but rumours are rumours we won’t find out until Wayne and his agent have been contacted whether he wants to move, but at the moment he is an Everton fan and an Everton player,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“So I wouldn’t consider anything on the cards on the moment. It would have to be massive for him to want to leave Everton.”
The Everton fans in the Tavern were delighted when the club re-signed Rooney last summer, however, he has had an indifferent year at Goodison Park and a number of punters will feel he is past his sell-by date for the Premier League, so they could be prepared to cash in on him this summer.
