Everton fans are looking up here in the Football Transfer Tavern with raised eyebrows as they consider the latest claims from the Daily Mail who think that the club could well be after a former Liverpool player.
Roberto Martinez is aware that the club need to add some steel to their midfield and have placed ex Liverpool enforcer Mohamed Sissoko on their wish list.
The new Everton manager has been struggling to keep his side together since taking over from David Moyes this summer and is fully aware that he could still lose his star duo of Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini.
After making his feelings about the bid from Manchester United known, Martinez is trying to focus on the positives this season and knows that Sissoko could well bring something to the side they do not have already.
Sissoko is currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain yet is looking for a way out of the club after seeing new arrivals force him down the pecking order.
Fellow Premier League outfit Cardiff City are also considering making a move for the player who will be looking for a weekly wage of around £70,000, yet Sissoko himself is keen to make the over back to Merseyside – having already controversially turned down Everton before his transfer to Liverpool back in 2005.
Should Everton fans swallow their pride and welcome Sissoko at Goodison Park this time round? Will he be heading back to Merseyside anwyay? Let us know your thoughts below.
