Everton fans here in the Tavern are feeling relieved that the season is almost over, as the Toffees flirted with the possibility of relegation towards the start of the current campaign.
Of course, the Blues will be looking to improve on this season’s efforts as a European spot may be achievable if they can manage to bring in a number of reinforcements over the course of the summer. Encouragingly, it appears as if the Toffees are already looking to bolster their defensive ranks, as according to the Sky Sports, Everton are eyeing Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.
Indeed, it’s understood that the Toffees have been tracking the 25-year-old over the past few months as they look to strengthen a defensive line that has caused them all sorts of problems this season.
And, it’s believed that Everton will make a move to sign him in the summer transfer window if his current club Middlesbrough fail to win promotion.
Interestingly, with a valuation of around £20 million, this would mean that the Merseyside club wouldn’t have to break the bank to bring the Englishman to Goodison Park in the summer transfer window.
However, they aren’t the only side interested in securing the services of the impressive Englishman, as Leicester City and West Ham United are also keen.
Ben Gibson has established himself as one of the best central defenders in the Championship so far this season, with a move to the Premier League being just reward for his efforts. And, with the Toffees still hurting from a number of poor defensive displays in the current campaign, bringing him to Goodison Park would definitely iron over any problems.
