Everton eye Tottenham star

Clint DempseyHere in the Football Transfer Tavern, the Metro are keeping Everton fans busy with the claim that Clint Dempsey has flown to the USA to begin talks with the club over a move.

Having never really become a starter or permanent fixture in Andre Villas Boas’ Spurs side, the player is now on the verge of being sold by the club, despite managing to net 12 goals last term coming from the bench and now it seems that despite early links with a move back to the USA, the player will in fact be staying in the Premier League and is set to begin talks over a move to Goodison Park, months after a deadline day deal to move to rivals Liverpool collapsed.

It seems a good day for Everton, after hearing that they will not be selling Leighton Baines to Manchester United and thus far managing to keep hold of Marouane Fellani, fans are now getting increasingly excited over the new season and to add versatile midfielder Dempsey to their ranks is only something that further excites them.

Spurs meanwhile are focusing on the arrival of Roberto Soldado and of course what seems to be the imminent exit of Gareth Bale, whilst denying that the reported £100 million deal had officially been agreed, insiders at the Lane know it is only a matter of time now.
