There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it claimed by the Daily Express that Everton are set to face major competition to land PSV Eindhoven’s Kevin Strootman.
The midfielder is wanted by David Moyes and it has also been claimed that Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson are set to join the race for the player who is already drawing admiring glances from Milan in a three way battle.
The Netherlands international midfielder will command around a £15 million fee and given the amount of clubs interested in him, it seems that the player could well be set for a bidding war in the summer – something that may not please David Moyes.
The player’s agent Chiel Dekker claimed that for now, despite all the interest in the 26-year-old, he is focused only on what will happen with PSV until the end of the season and noted to Eindhovens Dagblad: “Right now he wants to get the most out of the season, with PSV sitting second.”
The player is clearly hot property in Europe and even Liverpool and Andre Villas-Boas’ Tottenham have been linked with the midfielder meaning that not only will Everton have to stump up a hefty transfer fee but they will have to compete in terms of European football and wages with the rest of the pack.
