There’s a weird feeling in the Football Transfer Tavern tonight with The Express claiming that AC Milan have joined the race for Romelu Lukaku.
There’s a set of Everton fans in here disappointed because they wanted to keep hold of the Belgian who is on loan from Chelsea and a set of Chelsea fans that don’t really seem to mind where he goes – especially when they have their heart set on Diego Costa.
Lukaku’s current loan spell with Everton ends after Sunday’s game against Hull City and the former Anderlecht striker will return to his parent club ahead of the World Cup.
But Lukaku’s long-term future at Chelsea is in doubt and the Italian giants have become the latest club to be linked with the striker.
It is though that Chelsea will ask for in excess of £20 million for the youngster and it’s believed that Everton will struggle to raise that kind of money.
Chelsea bought the striker from Anderlecht for a fee worth up to £17 million with the vision of moulding him into a younger model of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
But it has never felt like Mourinho has been overly impressed with the youngster, instead relying on players such as Demba Ba, much to the confusion of many people.
It now seems that Lukaku could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal rather than a season-long loan with lots of potential suitors set to take aim at the Belgian.
Chelsea fans. Is Lukaku good enough to be a part of next season’s Chelsea squad or would it be the right choice to sell the big-man for £20 million plus? Let us know your thoughts below.
