Everton were extremely active during the last transfer window after they brought in the likes of Richarlison, Bernard and Kurt Zouma to bolster manager Marco Silva’s options.
And as well as the trio, Lucas Digne also arrived at the Merseyside club, deciding it was time to leave Barcelona in a quest for more first-team minutes.
Since then, Digne has gone on to oust left-back Leighton Baines out of the team and win the affection of the Goodison Park faithful in the process with Transfer Tavern recently finding plenty of tweets from Everton supporters showing their delight with the Frenchman.
And given how Digne has performed thus far in an Everton shirt, the above is unsurprising.
With Baines turning 34 in December, the Toffees need a long-term successor at left-back to the Englishman, and Digne looks the ideal candidate.
Like Baines, Digne is brilliant in attacking positions where he can whip in dangerous balls into the box, something he has already shown he is capable of doing in the current campaign.
The France international has the pace to recover as well, making him such an effective full-back down the left flank.
Where Digne can improve, however, is when it comes to his decision making and positioning. In essence, when to hold and when to push forward.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man’s desire to bomb on at every given opportunity can see him get caught out during a turnover of possession.
At 25, though, there is certainly plenty of time for Digne to correct this and, overall, he has been a very clever capture for the club.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
