‘Bullied and outpaced’ – Everton fans destroy one man despite stirring Watford comeback

Everton supporters in the Transfer Tavern finally had something to cheer about this weekend after seeing their side come from 2-0 down to beat Watford 3-2 at Goodison Park, thus moving up to 15th place in the Premier League table.

Caretaker manager David Unsworth had led the Toffees to three defeats in his three games in charge since the departure of Ronald Koeman last month, a run which saw their Carabao Cup and Europa League chances come to a shuddering end. And things didn’t look like improving on Merseyside on Sunday either as Richarlison and Christian Kabasele gave the Hornets a two-goal cushion, only for the North West outfit to hit back admirably thanks to goals from Oumar Niasse, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Leighton Baines, with Tom Cleverley’s late missed penalty enough to secure a much-needed three points for Everton.

Thus, there was a much better mood among our resident Evertonians on Sunday night as their side moved out of the Premier League’s bottom three and up to 15th in the table, and most fans now hope that the victory could be a springboard to further good results after the international break.

However, one must remember that for 65 minutes the Toffees were second best to Marco Silva’s side, and one man in particular who appeared to struggle was centre-back Phil Jagielka.

The 35-year-old made his eighth league start of the season at Goodison Park on Sunday but didn’t have a great afternoon at all, with his part in both of Watford’s goals questionable to say the least.

And several Everton fans took to Twitter to slaughter the experienced defender for his efforts on Sunday…
