One area of Everton’s squad manager Marco Silva is intent on addressing during this transfer window is central defence.
The Toffees, however, are yet to have any success with bringing in a player for that department.
Nevertheless, Everton are still expected to sign a new centre-back before the transfer window closes next Thursday, which leaves room for Ashley Williams to depart Goodison Park.
And, according to BBC Sport, Williams could be on his way to Stoke City with the Championship side said to be in talks with Everton over the potential signing of the former Swansea City captain.
Williams, who is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, moved to Everton in the summer of 2016 but has been largely disappointing.
The 33-year-old is on a massive decline and now is probably a good time to move him on.
Have a look at what Everton supporters are saying on Williams’ likely exit below…
I’m more than happy to drive him to each destination free of charge.
