Everton fans on Twitter were left raving over Dominic Calvert-Lewin

This season has seen Marco Silva’s Everton go through plenty of ups and downs, yet it’s all starting to click into place for the Portuguese gaffer now. Three wins on the spin, including wins over Arsenal and Chelsea, have got them looking like the Everton of old, and so far Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been crucial in their run of good results.

The young striker doesn’t score bags of goals, but when he plays he does more than just score. With a rotating attacking midfield trio behind him consisting of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Richarlison and Bernard, the way that Calvert-Lewin makes smart runs, holds the ball up and brings his teammates into the game is second to none, and even when he’s not on the scoresheet he’s doing his bit.
Yesterday’s clash saw him doing exactly that to the very best of his ability too. Whilst the Toffees failed to add to their opening goal from Phil Jagielka, they could have been rampant had they discovered a lethal touch in front of goal. The number of chances and opportunities that came about was incredible, and for the most part, Silva can thank the tireless work of his front-man for that, even if they couldn’t add to their opener.
You can see the Toffees’ calls for Calvert-Lewin as their MOTM here:
Bernard was excellent. DCL took the MOTM for me today made the defenders scared of him and his all round ability was brilliant

DCL is not a fan of but he was excellant today. Bit embarrassing that jags is playing. Bernard missed two open goals at 1-0 and should be dropped

You can’t argue the Toffees calls for Calvert-Lewin as man of the match, he was excellent yesterday and all his game missed was a goal to go with it.
