Following a slow start to the new season, Everton have some more bad news.
Is Marco Silva the right man for Everton?
Having only made two appearances for the Toffees, coming on as a substitute at Crystal Palace on the Premier League’s opening weekend then starting the win against Watford, midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin looks set to be out of action until January (per BBC Sport).
The Ivorian has had surgery on a thigh problem and won’t return to the fold for at least three months, leaving Marco Silva’s side with very little midfield back up.
Gbamin signed from Mainz in the summer for £25m, with the Merseyside club hoping he could add strength in depth in order to bolster their top six ambitions.
The 24-year-old came to Goodison Park on the back of a good season in Germany, playing 30 games for his former club, scoring two goals and an assist in that time.
He also boasted an impressive pass success rate, with 80.4% of his passes finding his teammates, according to WhoScored.com.
Now, Everton fans are frustrated at the potential midfield calamity awaiting them when the Premier League returns this weekend.
