Everton fans take to Twitter to praise Silva after avoiding derby embarrassment

Everton fans on Twitter were delighted with their performance yesterday. The Toffees have had it out for Marco Silva on more than a few occasions for his tactical setup of their side, yet they couldn’t fault him yesterday as he had his side playing intense attacking football and didn’t just sit in and settle for a draw, despite the result.

Better decisions needed in attack. #EFCmatchday— Everton (@Everton) 3 March 2019
Silva’ start to life on Merseyside was strong, yet it was the reverse fixture against Liverpool at Anfield that sparked something in the Toffees. After Jordan Pickford’s blunder in that game, it’s like someone flicked a switch in the Bluenoses as their performances and results plummetted, yet they now look to be getting back on track with four points out of six won this week and back-to-back clean sheets.
One point for their efforts against their bitter rivals may not have been the win they were desperate for, and they still find themselves on a 19-game run without a win against their Merseyside rivals, but the performance was one to be proud of and the fans have rightly been praising Silva for it, as he couldn’t have got it more right on a day where the fan’s scrutiny would have been at it’s worst had they lost.
You can read the Toffees’ verdict on the way Silva had them going here:
Marco Silva starting to prove me right, this season was always going to be a transition, patience and time was always needed. Look forward to a strong campaign from Everton next season.

Passion and commitment like that every game from now on and we can win these home games against United, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Need as many points from the next games but today was a positive. COYB

I could really tell we were trying to win the game today too which impressed me. It didn't seem like we just wanted a draw and going forward this is important.

Have not seen a performance like that since the Derby in December.

Thank you Marco and Co. We need to play attractive footie. We need to be clinical in our moves, plays and passing. We let LFC have too much ball. We need to take ownership of game. Happy we drew but would have been pleased if we had made more attacks and had more shots at goal.
