Over at the jukebox in The Football Transfer Tavern a crowd has gathered around Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones who has news of a trial.
The club who have taken steps to improve their defensive options is Everton who have decided to take Felipe Mattioni on a trial basis.
The Brazilian right back apparently featured for Everton’s Under 21 side against Norwich City in Southport on Tuesday night, playing 85 minutes in the 3-1 victory.
The 26-year-old began his career with Gremiro in his native Brazil, before taking in loan spells at AC Milan and Real Mallorca.
He made a move to Spain permanently in 2010 when he joined Espanyol for a reported €2 million.
However shortly after signing for the club he suffered a devastating injury, suffering a knee injury which damaged his anterior crucial ligaments, initially diagnosed as needing six months to recover, it was two years before he would pull on an Espanyol shirt again.
Mattioni found himself released by the Spanish side during the summer, after making just 33 appearances in five years with the club.
There is no doubt that Mattioni will be given the chance to show what he can offer Roberto Martinez over the next few weeks.
The Everton fans among the group at the jukebox in The Football Transfer Tavern, are looking a little concerned at the players lack of playing time but are willing to give him a chance to prove them wrong.
Everton fans what do you make of the news? Do you see Mattioni as a good back up player for the side?
