Metro have some rather good news for our Everton contingent here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They have reported that Barcelona star Gerard Deulofeu is set to agree to another season on loan at the Merseyside club.
Given how well he has developed this season, we think that is a good move for Roberto Martinez and indeed the player himself.
Had Barcelona’s transfer embargo been enforced, a return for Deulofeu could well have been on the cards, but with the Catalan giants now set to strengthen this summer (shockingly after their ban was suspended) the Spanish forward’s breakthrough into the first team will have to wait.
That is brilliant news for Toffees boss Roberto Martinez, who rates the player highly, claiming he will become one of the best in the world in the future.
Spanish paper AS have claimed that the 20-year-old will stay at Goodison Park, printing: ‘Deulofeu will, in principle, stay another year in England, with the player being close to Everton manager Roberto Martinez.’
That has gone down a storm in the tavern and we can understand why.
Everton fans. How happy would you be to see Deulofeu’s spell on Merseyside extended by another season? Let us know your thoughts below.
