Adnan Januzaj could become a huge success at Everton

Reports in recent days suggested that Everton were closing in on the signing of Malcom from Bordeaux this summer, but a recent report from The Liverpool Echo suggests that those reports are far from accurate.

Plenty of Europe’s heavyweight clubs have been linked with a move for Malcom in recent months, so it was hugely surprising to discover that Everton were supposedly in pole position to secure his signature.

Much to the disappointment of the supporters, it seems those reports were based on false grounds, however, a recent report from Belgium suggests that the Toffees are interested in signing another exciting playmaker, namely Adnan Januzaj.

According to Het Nieuwsblad (via talkSPORT), Everton have made contact with Januzaj (valued at £13.5 million by Transfermarkt) over a potential return to the Premier League this summer.

The Belgium international broke onto the scene as a youngster at Manchester United but he failed to hold down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford despite his initial promise.

Following loan spells at both Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland, Januzaj was sold by United last summer to Real Sociedad in a deal worth £7.65 million, and he enjoyed a relatively successful debut season in La Liga by scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists from 28 appearances for the club.

Whilst his record is far from ground-breaking, it must be considered that Januzaj is only 23-years-of-age and the statistics do not reveal the full extent of his playmaking ability.

Cutting in from the right-wing, Januzaj creates space for overlapping full-backs with his close control and composure in possession and, under a manger like Silva who places high value on technical quality, he would be in a perfect environment to grow into a top Premier League talent.

The individual strike which Januzaj so devastating executed during Beligum’s group match against England served to prove his immense level of potential which is simply waiting to be unearthed.

Januzaj still has plenty to learn in the Premier League, but if he is willing to work hard under Silva’s leadership there’s no doubt his quality will shine through and get plenty of Evertonians off their feet at Goodison Park next season.
