Everton hold an interest in Moussa Marega

There would be no real argument against the idea that Everton need to add a new striker to their ranks once January and the transfer window finally come around.

The Toffees need a recognised frontman to help them find the back of the net on a regular basis, with Marco Silva resorting to Richarlison so far.

With the likes of Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse appearing to be out of favour at Goodison Park, it would be no real surprise if they did turn to the transfer market.

And, according to reports, it appears as though Silva could turn to his homeland to try and snap up one of the country’s top marksmen.

Correio da Manha, via Sport Witness, are claiming Everton could look to approach Porto for Moussa Marega.

Having hit 11 goals in his 17 appearances across all competitions this season, the Mali international has certainly hit the impressive heights that led to plenty of speculation about a move for him in the summer.

The Portuguese outlet also adds that Marega has a €40million release clause in his contract, which apparently ‘doesn’t scare the English’ clubs, with West Ham United also thought to be interested.

The Verdict:

Marega is an excellent striker and has proven at a consistent level how good he can be for Porto, making it no real surprise his name has popped up with a move yet again.

You would feel Everton definitely need to add a striker to their ranks to continue to improve under Silva and take them to the next level and reach European football once again.

However, with a number of clubs likely to take an interest in the 27-year-old and Porto unlikely willing to sell, Everton could have a battle on their hands to try and bring him to Goodison Park.
