Everton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are already in a rather excitable mood after the brilliant week they have had, and it looks set to get better with the latest claim from BBC Sport.
The publication claim that the Toffees could well be able to extend the stay of their star performer of the weekend Gerard Deulofeu.
The young player is on loan from Barcelona after coming through the prestigious La Masia academy and is showing that he is one hell of a player.
As our landlord stops pouring a pint, he notes that a couple of Roberto Martinez’s star performers this term have been the loan signings he has brought in, and to potentially be able to extend the stay of Deulofeu would be a huge coup indeed.
Martinez spoke about the possibility of keeping the player and noted: “We have an agreement to extend the loan for an extra year if Barcelona don’t need Deulofeu,
“He has incredible pace and I’ve never seen a player so quick with the ball.”
He also made it perfectly clear just how highly he rates the star and our punters in the tavern have to agree with every word. Martinez noted that: “I always thought he’d take until February to learn how to deal with the league but he’s surprised me.
“He’s very arrogant in the right way and today’s finish is exactly what he deserves.”
Everton have of course gone from strength to strength under Martinez and look ten times the team they were under struggling Manchester United manager David Moyes.
