Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are growing increasingly concerned with the future of their centre-back Jonny Evans, but reports from the Metro reckon Roberto Martinez could be set to bring a defender in from Manchester United.
Bookmakers have slashed the odds on the Toffees landing Jonny Evans, with the Northern Ireland international unable to force his way into Louis van Gaal’s first team picture at Old Trafford.
Arsenal, Southampton and West Brom have also been linked with the defender, but the odds on SkyBet have been slashed in favour of Everton making the switch to Goodison Park.
The 27-year-old has made over 150 league appearances at Old Trafford, yet only managed 14 starts last season. Were he to complete the move, Evans would become the second player to swap United for Everton this summer, with Tom Cleverley having already completed a switch to Goodison Park.
A group of Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern feel he would enhance the club’s defence, and his experience will undoubtedly help the Toffee’s in their pursuit of a top eight finish!
