Everton need to find a striker in the summer to help them find the back of the net on a more consistent basis. If Marco Silva’s side were able to add one to their squad (and improve on their inconsistent performances), then there would be no reason as to why the Toffees could not challenge for European football.
Fortunately, the Goodison Park outfit may have a striker that could solve those concerns already in Henry Onyekuru and it appears the club have plans for him in the future, provided one potentially difficult condition is met.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Fotospor, Everton are planning to have Onyekuru as a part of their squad next season.
However, that will all come down to whether he will be offered a work permit, which is believed to be a rather challenging task for the Toffees to overcome as he has not been playing as regularly for the Nigeria national team.
Onyekuru has been excellent for Galatasaray this season, so it is no surprise that Silva wants him to be apart of the Everton squad next season. The forward has been in terrific form for the Istanbul giants, having scored 12 goals in the Super Lig in his 26 appearances so far.
Those figures could be exactly what the Toffees need at Goodison Park next season as their current attack struggles to find the back of the net as consistently as he does.
However, because of his limited opportunities at the international level, the Toffees could be left frustrated as obtaining the legal documentation allowing him to work in England could still be denied.
Galatasaray would be prepared to take him on loan once again if he fails to receive the documentation, however, whether Everton would be prepared to let him go temporarily remains to be seen.
If they did look to sell him instead, Onyekuru’s form could provide them with a rather attractive transfer fee, although that is probably the last thing on the Goodison Park outfit’s mind right now.
Everton fans, do you think Onyekuru could be the answer to the attacking woes if the club manages to acquire a work permit for him? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
