Everton interested in Aleksandar Mitrovic

Everton may still be in the race to finish seventh in the Premier League this season, but imagine where they could be in the table if they had a striker that was able to provide a regular source of goals.

Marco Silva’s side have had to be heavily reliant on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison to find the back of the net all too often throughout the campaign, as Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin lacking the quality needed in front of goal at times.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, the Toffees must surely look to try and find a natural goalscorer to add to their side and one news report is suggesting that they may well be in the hunt for one.

What’s the News?

Serbian publication Zurnal have claimed Everton are interested in Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and could look to make a move for the recently relegated Premier League club’s star forward.

The striker has hit ten goals this season in a rather challenging campaign, which is more than any of the front men at Goodison Park have been able to provide as Calvert-Lewin has eight to his name (barring Sigurdsson and Richarlison’s 13 each).

However, the Toffees are not the only side thought to be interested in the 24-year-0ld as the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, West Ham United, Leicester City and Guangzhou Evergrande all said to be keeping tabs on the former Newcastle United man.

The Verdict:

With Fulham’s relegation to the Championship confirmed, Mitrovic is likely going to be made available and Everton should look to do all they can to try and bring him to Goodison Park.

He would have to be considered an upgrade on the players already available to the club in the forward positions, whilst he could also help the likes of Calvert-Lewin to improve their game further.

As mentioned, the 24-year-old has a knack of finding the back of the net on a consistent basis and could only get better as time goes by, whilst he would also thrive in the system that Silva likes to adopt at the Toffees.

Playing as the focal point of the attacker, the Serbian has the physicality to fight it out with the best defenders in the box and is a commanding figure when it comes down to his aerial play. With Everton liking to put crosses into the box, Mitrovic would be an excellent target man for their wide men to try and pick out.

The Toffees could also be the next step in his career as the club will potentially give him the chance of playing in European Football competitions in the future, something he is yet to achieve during his time in England.
