Everton fans will be desperate to see their side add a proven goalscorer to their side this summer as goals continue to be hard to come by for their current crop of strikers. Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have struggled for the majority of the campaign, whilst Sandro Ramirez and Oumar Niasse have not impressed with their performances during their time at Goodison Park.
Marco Silva will know that he cannot continue to rely on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison to win them points and it appears he has an attacker on their radar that can help to solve their attacking woes next season.
What’s the News?
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Edin Dzeko is a player that has been linked with a move to Everton as Roma consider to offload the player.
The Bosnia international, who is 33-years-old, could be sold in the summer by the Italian giants as they may look to cash in on the striker before potentially losing him for nothing the following year when his contract expires.
Everton are in clear need of a new striker and Dzeko could be the ideal player to help them solve their attacking woes and help to take them back into European football.
As mentioned, the current crop of attackers at Goodison Park really struggled and the club have lost a considerable amount of points because of their inability.
However, Dzeko would have to be considered an upgrade on what Silva already has available to him and would need to be seriously considered.
The 33-year-old would be able to fit directly into the Portuguese manager’s system as he would be able to act as a target man in and around the penalty area with the physical ability he has, as well as a man that would thrive by playing up top by himself.
But, Everton fans would be quite right to question whether Dzeko would be the answer for the club as he can hardly be seen as a long-term fix and one that would only be able to have a few years of remaining at the top.
Everton fans, what do you make of the interest surrounding Dzeko? Do you think the club should target him or look for someone who could provide a longer fix? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
