As much as Everton have tried to fill the void that Romelu Lukaku left when he was sold to Manchester United, no one has quite simply been able to make the cut. A number of players have arrived at Goodison Park with some expectation, however, they have all completely fell flat and appear to be rather big flops.
However, it appears the Toffees could be about to target an individual who could finally end the problem the Belgium international left behind.
What’s the News?
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Everton are interested in AS Roma’s Patrik Schick and have been asking information about a possible transfer.
It is claimed that the Serie A giants would be open to allowing him to leave on a loan deal with a view to a permanent switch, although they still value the 23-year-old at around €24million (£20.6m).
Everton are not the only side to be interested in the Czech Republic international though, with Red Bull Leipzig also understood to be keen on him.
Everton have quite simply failed to replace Lukaku as the additions of Sandro Ramirez and Cenk Tosun really have not worked at all, with both men having struggled to find the back of the net.
However, Schick could be the perfect man to emulate the Belgian, as in a way, he is a younger version of their former forward – although he is not built as the man-mountain.
The 23-year-old is incredibly creative and is a team player, as he likes to get involved with the play and make things happen. He has a great eye for goal – having displayed his talent at Sampdoria before his slump at Roma – and has excellent vision when it comes to providing his team-mates with opportunities.
Schick is very good with both feet and is a commanding presence in the air as he can dominate opposing defenders, which could play into the hands of Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman as they like to whip balls into the box.
With the type of football Marco Silva likes to utilise at Goodison Park, there is every reason to suggest that the Czech forward could adapt to Premier League football rather easily, and as such, be the man to provide goals to the club as consistently as Lukaku once did.
Everton fans, should the club look to sign Schick in the summer? Do you think he can finally be the man to replace Lukaku? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
