The landlord here at The Transfer Tavern has had to endure plenty of discontent from Everton fans round the bar over the years but they are now a club on the up again and supporters can look ahead to next season with optimism.
Ronald Koeman has a crucial summer transfer window ahead as he looks to build a side that can potentially compete for the top four positions in the English Premier League next season.
A key part of that will be bolstering an attacking force with quality and depth, the Toffees often relying a little too much on Romelu Lukaku in recent seasons.
One man Koeman is said to be looking at is Chelsea’s Bertrand Traore, who has been on loan at Dutch side Ajax this season.
French outlet Foot Mercato have reported that a source close to the player believes interest is high in Traore with firm offers coming in from the likes of Everton, West Ham and a host of European clubs. The report also says that Chelsea are holding out for as much as £17.5m for the player.
Traore had a decent campaign out on loan at the Dutch giants, scoring 13 goals in 39 appearances for the club, including four in the UEFA Europa League. He was a key part of the side that helped Ajax into the final of that competition, scoring a double in the semi-final against Lyon.
Everton fans – what do you reckon? Is Traore the kind of player you’d like to see arrive at Goodison Park this summer or are you hoping for a higher standard of player?
