The Everton fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by their goalkeeper about their manager.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Joel Robles has urged the Everton heirachy to stick by manager Roberto Martinez as he believes he can turn the teams slump this season around over the summer.
Speculation has intensified about the future of Roberto Martinez in recent weeks and with the club exiting the FA Cup at the weekand fans getting restless with the desire shown by the players he could be set for a summer exit.
Speaking about his own and Martinez’s future, Robles said:
“It’s important for me to play games and it is possible for my level to go (up) more, I believe. For me, it’s important that I help my team and I will work every day to keep the number one spot.”
“This is why the manager is so important for this club. For my career and for the team, Roberto Martinez is important. This is football, so when you lose every time the mistake (is blamed) on the manager, but I don’t think that is so. The most important thing is that the fans, the players and the team go the same way.”
The Everton fans in The Tavern have completely lost patience with the performances and want a change at the top this summer.
