The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern think that Koeman desperately needs a few new players…
Everton made a pretty decent start to the 2016/17 season, with Koeman continuing the fine form that saw Southampton rise up the table in the years prior, but as of late – the Toffees have been seriously struggling.
It began as a season that looked likely to bring European football, but the Everton fans in the Tavern are now hoping that the 2016/17 campaign ends with a top-half finish.
Koeman is, undoubtedly, a manager that can lead the club out of their slump – but it would appear as though he doesn’t think he can do it alone.
According to the Mirror, Koeman is already preparing for the re-opening of the transfer market, with Demerai Gray a key target for the Dutch boss.
The Mirror note that Koeman has been keen on him for a while, and injury to Yannick Bolasie has forced Koeman’s hand sooner than he would have liked.
Bolasie made an excellent start to life at Goodison Park prior to his injury, and our landlord thinks that any player that joins will have some big boots to fill. Gray could be that man, though, given that he has looked fairly good in the, albeit limited, role that he has played with Leicester so far this season.
A goal and assist from just 1 Premier League start, alongside several substitute appearances, is a decent return – and the Everton fans in the Tavern are confident that he would be able to improve that record should he be given more of a chance.
