The Everton fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening and discussing comments made by legendary player about their manager.
Writing his column for the Liverpool Echo, former Everton man Kevin Ratcliffe wrote that he believes winning the FA Cup is the only way Roberto Martinez will still be in charge next season.
He cites lack of chemistry between the players as a major part of why the club has failed to hit the heights expected in terms of Premier League performances this season. Ratcliffe said:
“The chemistry is obviously not right in some sort of way. Why? Just look at the league table and that tells you everything you need to know. Something is not right.”
“We keep getting told how good these players are but if they’re that outstanding then there must be something going wrong for them to be locked in the bottom half of the Premier League table.”
“Saying how great the players are all the time has put the team under pressure. There is massive pressure on Roberto Martinez now to get to the FA Cup final. He’s made the point about reaching two semi finals being an achievement but you’ve got to get to the final in at least one of them.”
Our landlord in The Tavern believes that Martinez is still one of the brightest managers in the Premier League and thinks the club should stand by him to right the wrongs of this season.
As for the Everton fans although they are totally fed up with the performances coming from their team and lay the blame firmly at Martinez’s door.
Will Martinez last the summer? Let us know in the comments below!
