The Belgian looks set to return to Chelsea after another fine season at Goodison Park where he scored 16 goals in 33 appearances and the permanent fee of £25 million set by Chelsea looks just to high for the Merseyside outfit.
But Everton fans shouldn’t feel dejected as Martinez and co are already looking for replacements and according to the Metro, they have lined up Swansea City’s star striker Wilfred Bony.
Bony has impressed for the Swans this season following a £12 million move from Vitesse Arnhem and his crucial goals were enough to ensure Premier League football next season.
The Ivorian scored 26 goals in all competitions, including five in the Europa League, for which Everton have qualified next season.
And European football next season could lure the striker away from South Wales.
Bony, although happy at the Liberty Stadium, has stated that if a big club were to come calling, he would find it very hard to run down the opportunity.
Now all that remains to be seen is what Bony declares as a big club, with Tottenham and even Arsenal also linked to the striker in recent months.
Swansea City fans. Could you blame Bony for wanting to join a club like Everton? Is this much of a step up in class? Let us know your thoughts below.
