Everton lining up £40m January move for Premier League striker

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling relieved after moving out of the relegation zone this weekend.

However, they feel that they need a natural goal scorer to replace Romelu Lukaku, who left to join Manchester United in the summer.

According to The Mirror, Everton are ready to splash the cash on Olivier Giroud this summer to solve that problem up front.

Ronald Koeman is a big fan of the Arsenal striker and will reportedly pay £40m for his services in the January transfer window.

Giroud was a top target for the Toffees in the summer and they faced competition from West Ham for the France international.

The left-footed target man is regarded as a back-up by Arsene Wenger and he could look to leave in January to keep his place in the French national side ahead of the upcoming World Cup next summer.

Encouraged by this, Koeman is ready to swoop with a £40m move for the Frenchman.

The 30-year-old has 70 Premier League goals for Arsenal in total, including one this season.

Giroud is said to be keen on a move to Goodison Park to get more playing time.
