Consistency will need to be the main priority for Everton if they are to have any chance of achieving a top-half finish in the Premier League this season, although fans will be forgiven if they were not too optimistic about their chances against Chelsea at the weekend.
However, something that could get supporters in the Gwladys Street end something to cheer about may be the surprising rumour that has emerged recently.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Calciomercato, Everton are interested in signing Olympique de Lyonnais’ Nabil Fekir in the summer.
It is understood the Toffees have ‘set their sights’ on the France international, who had almost completed a move to Liverpool last summer in a rather long saga that did not eventually happen following concerns about a knee injury.
There is no doubt that Everton fans would love to get one over their arch-rivals and with a possible transfer for Fekir, many would not feel they could do better when it comes down to off the pitch matters.
And, Fekir could be the ideal player to arrive at Goodison Park and help the Toffees reach the heights they have been desperate to hit for such a long time.
The 25-year-old has been a star for Lyon over the past couple of seasons with his attacking ability, having provided the Ligue One side with 12 goals and seven assists across all competitions in the current campaign.
Goals and creativity is just one area of the team that Marco Silva must look to address as they have been extremely inconsistent and have struggled to find someone who can regularly produce the goods.
However, with that being said, it would come as a surprise to see Fekir at Goodison Park without any European football on offer and with the potential amount of money he could cost the Toffees to sign, whilst the report by Calciomercato just simply states they have ‘set their sights’ on him.
It would certainly be a surprise to see the Lyon star at Everton and fans would be forgiven if they took the rumour with a pinch of salt.
Everton fans, do you think Fekir is a realistic target for the club? Or do you find the report a little too hard to believe? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
