Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing the possibility of bringing a well-known name to Premier League supporters back to English football, with the fans playing darts somewhat split as to whether they believe it’s a good move.
According to reports from TransferMarketWeb, The Toffees are planning to activate Nani’s €8 million release clause and tempt him with a move back to the Premier League.
The Portuguese international who left United for Fenerbahce last summer has had a very successful first season in Turkey after scoring 10 goals and assisting eight in 39 appearances.
It is reported that Inter Milan and Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande are also showing interest in the prospect of signing Nani, so if Everton wanted to land there man they’d have to move fast.
New owner Farhad Moshiri is expected to spend big in the summer for Everton after they have had a very disappointing season, once again Everton are under achieving with the squad they have and may look to rebuild the team in the summer.
Nani, who is 29 years old, enjoyed his spell in England with United after winning four Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson, since the arrival of Van Gaal things turned for the worst in terms of his career as he was not in the new manager’s plans and had to seek a move away.
Everton brought in Aaron Lennon and Gerard Deulofeu last summer but have still struggled significantly; Nani is very experienced and could be a very useful signing for Everton, so how does he compare to Everton’s current crop of wingers?
A stat that really stands out is the amount of successful take on’s Nani has complete, he has a very good score of 60% whilst Lennon is in second on 57.58% and Deulofeu on 50.59%, that is very impressive especially playing on the wing.
Nani has also completed the most successful passed scoring 32.32, Deulofeu is second with 25.26 and Lennon 21.19, Everton haven’t struggled with goals as such this season as they have scored 51 goals in 30 Premier League games, Lennon has the highest score with the amount of goals scored after scoring 0.43, Nani is second with 0.37, Deulofeu is somewhat behind with 0.14, Deulofeu has really impressed with his assists this season after a very high score of 0.57, Nani is second with 0.21.
Lennon has scored 0 after not contributing to any assists this season, playing as a winger it is very important you create chances and help the team with key passes; Nani has a staggering score of 2.16 when it comes to key passes, and Lennon is second with 1.81 and Deulofeu last with 1.58.
In summary, Nani would be a very good signing for the Toffees who are undoubtedly looking to rebuild this summer, a fee as cheap as 8 million euros may tempt them even more to get the transfer done, Nani has played in the Premier League before and has won major competitions in his time there, and could bring something different and some well needed experience at Everton.
