Everton fans here in the Tavern are hoping that their side can secure a European spot next season, as they failed to assert their dominance on the Europa League in the current campaign.
Interestingly, the Toffees have been able to string together a number of positive results in recent times, as Sam Allardyce has managed to rally his troops for a strong finish to the current campaign. And, it appears that Everton may be able to bolster their midfield ranks in the summer, as according to the Manchester Evening News, Yaya Toure could join another Premier League club with Everton being an option.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed the Ivorian’s departure at the end of the season following eight years at the Etihad.
But, it’s understood that the 34-year-old has no plans to leave England, as he is said to be happy in the north west, with his family settled. And, he believes that he is fit enough to cope with the demands of the top-flight despite not playing the full 90 minutes in any of his nine appearances this season.
However, it looks as if Everton isn’t the only option for the central midfielder, as Burnley and Huddersfield Town are also potential options.
One of the best midfielders to ever play in the Premier League, he would follow fellow legend of the league Wayne Rooney to Goodison Park.
The Ivorian could be valuable to Everton in their pursuit of European football next season, as he has helped Manchester City in Europe over the years and still believes that he has what it takes to perform in the Premier League. Although, the Toffees may struggle to get the best out of him if he ends up making the move as his fitness is always a concern.
