Everton will head into the summer knowing that they need to invest once again to improve the squad, after a poor season on the whole following a whole host of big money signings last summer.
The Toffees, led now by manager Sam Allardyce, have climbed the table well enough since the former Bolton and Newcastle man took over, although the feeling among some of the Everton fans here in the Tavern is the club can and should be doing better.
However, things are as they are, and Allardyce looks to be staying put for now, meaning he will no doubt have a summer shopping list of players he wants to bring into the club.
One player our landlord thinks would be a superb capture for the Toffees is current Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who has been enjoying a prolific loan spell with Borussia Dortmund this season.
Valued at a hefty £36m by Transfermarkt, it might seem like a lot of money for Everton to part company with, but that appears to be the going rate for top strikers now, and he would be an excellent fit alongside January signing Cenk Tosun at Goodison Park.
Batshuayi has smashed in seven goals in just ten appearances since making the move to Germany, and remains a Chelsea player. However, with the Blues having the likes of Morata and Giroud ahead of him in the queue, the Belgian could be keen to move on and follow the path of fellow countryman Romelu Lukaku.
Everton fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
