Everton have had a somewhat miserable start to the Premier League season as they sit down in the bottom three and miles away from the sort of position many expected to occupy when the season began.
The Toffees lost star man Romelu Lukaku in the summer, and his loss is being felt massively through the squad, with a lack of goals, focal point, and attacking threat proving to be a real issue for the Goodison Park outfit thus far this season.
Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks they need to do more in January to address the loss of Lukaku, and he’s been speaking to Everton fans at the bar this week talking up former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
The big striker has been a revelation for Roma since joining the Italians from City, and demonstrated his class with a stunning volley in the 3-3 draw with Chelsea a few weeks ago in the Champions League.
While he’s not a youngster anymore, he is proven, and with Everton brimming with cash, they should really be looking at going all out to capture someone like Dzeko. His ability to occupy the central striker spot and dominate defenders make him a nightmare to try and stop, while he also possesses excellent finishing ability when put through on goal.
Everton are missing a ‘main man’ up top, and Dzeko fits the mould perfectly for what they need. If they want to make an impression in January in the market, then Dzeko could be the man they need to turn to.
Toffees fans, what do you think? Would Dzeko be the perfect fit? Let us know in the comments!
