Cenk Tosun’s name never appears to be far from the transfer rumour mill. Things certainly have not gone well for the Everton forward during his 18-month-or-so stay at Goodison Park.
Reports in the past have suggested that the Turkey international could be one of the names to be offloaded by Marco Silva in the summer as he plots a mass summer sale, however, one report has emerged claiming something rather different.
What’s the News?
According to Fotomac (via Sport Witness), Everton are believed to be planning on keeping Tosun at the club for another season and regard him as an important member of the squad.
The 27-year-old has played second fiddle for much of the campaign and it does not appear as though his chances in the future are likely to improve.
However, the report from Turkey seems to suggest that Tosun could have a more important role and could find himself back in the first-team picture in the summer.
Everton’s strikers certainly need to improve in front of goal next season as they have let the side down as their contributions are rather poor and the Toffees have had to rely heavily on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison.
With conflicting reports having been published in different countries, it is rather difficult to know what to believe. However, having watched Silva use other options in front of the Turkish player when fit, it is hard to see the 27-year-old being at Goodison Park for too much longer.
